I was up in Inverness and the Loch Ness area several days ago, and, although I had no plans of visiting Uncle Al’s briefly-inhabited abode during the time he spent in Scotland (I can only imagine how dismaying it must be for the current owners/caretakers of the house to deal with ‘fans’ and curiosity seekers prowling around the grounds all the time - I mean, people live there, and after all it was only AC's short-term residence), I was nonetheless curious enough to look up the location of the house, relishing the idea of my proximity and hoping to find some photos and the like. Don’t know whether others have already seen this site, which has a detailed description of the property along with some nice pics, all very interesting:

Re: Boleskine House
Sat, June 17, 2006 - 8:06 AMThe price is/was actually reasonable (well, for a house in the middle of nowhere), but only for those who've got enough cash to spare on a large second home, and the upkeep must be a bitch if you're not there most of the year, having to secure it against potential break-ins and all that. And then there's the 'unusual happenings' that have been rumored...so yeah, it probably wasn't hotcake real-estate, lol! (although I'm still surprised it wasn't. Oh if only I were filthy rich...!).

Sat, June 17, 2006 - 3:04 PMoh come on Marvin, that's been done there! ~ I'm sure you can be more original than that ;)
if I lived there, the Loch Ness monster would eat Oreo cookies out of my hand....
then I'd go back to the drug laden orgies!

If I lived there and had all those drugs, I wouldn't try to foist off Oreos on the poor Monster. I'm sure Nessie would appreciate some of those drugs; after all, it must get lonely in the Loch. And if I were to host any orgies, the Monster would certainly be invited, but I don't do orgies myself so it seems unlikely. Matter of fact, I don't do drugs either. Nothing against them, just not that interested. I like a quiet life actually, so Nessie would probably just get bored with me and swim off.
Oh, well, that's life (and monsters).

Nice pics and such.
The order should buy Boleskine and set it up as a Profess House.
Then again, I am an advanced thinker... ;-)

Tue, July 11, 2006 - 8:35 PMI thought I heard wind of the possibility of it being turned into an Inn. More like an American bed and breakfast. But that was like 10 years ago. (Shrug)
Great ideas sometimes take time.
